TREKKING :
DODITAL
TREK
This is a classic trekking holiday in India that begins in the scenic
Bhagirathi river valley, a major tributary of the Ganges. The trek to
Dodital Lake takes us through alpine meadows with great views of the
surrounding peaks. The lake is a high point of the trekking holiday as
it reflects the surrounding landscape in its waters. After the lake we
walk to the Darwa Pass (4150 m) and into the Yamuna River watershed.
This trekking route was first opened by the Gujjars (nomadic herdsmen)
who graze their buffalo herds on the high pastures every year before
returning to lower altitudes in winter. It is also used by Sadhus
(Hindu pilgrims) to travel to Gangotri, the sacred shrine at the
source of the Ganges. This is a great trip for those of a lower level
of fitness, who want to try trekking in India and experience something
different.
On arrival to India you will be met at the international airport.
Depending on your itinerary you will be transferred to the train
station, or hotel.
