Pilgrimage In Kumaon
1. Baijnath
Baijnath Temple, Pilgrim Places in KumaonIt is an important pilgrimage
and historic centre. A group of ancient temples dating back to the
12th and 13th century line the banks. Line the banks of the Gomti
river.

arcitectural excellence achieved during the period of the Chand Rajas,
jageshwar is at a distance of 34 kms from Almora.

Often equated with Varanasi is divinity, situated at the confluence of
the Gomti and Saryu rivers where the valley spreads into a wide
expanse, it is a picturesque 36 km drive down fro m
Kausani.
6. Nanda Devi Temple Almora
This ancient temple is one of the main attractions of Almora town.
This temple is hundreds of year old and carries deep faith of many
people from this area. The images and statues on walls of this temple
are intricately and delicately carved. They are very attractive and
almost true to life depiction has been done. Every year a fair, Nanda
Devi Fair, is organized in Almora. People from all over the place come
and participate in this fair. Groups of young men & women dance on the
pulsating music of the mountains.
Pilgrimage In Garhwal
1. Yamunotri
Yamunotri Temple is the main temple is dedicated to Goddess Yamuna.
Maharani Guleria of Jaipur built the present temple in the late
nineteenth century. Once destroyed by an earthquake, it has been
rebuilt. The temple is approachable by road. However, the route is
little away from the normal pilgrimage route. Passing through many
lakes like Dodital , Ruinsara Lake and Yamunotri Pass, the trek to
Yamunotri becomes an adventure pilgrimage. The trek route passes
through many high elevation meadows and passes offering excellent view
of Swargarohini group of mountains.
2. Kedarnath
A scenic spot situated against the backdrop of the majestic kedarnath
range at an altitude of 3,581 mts. the kedarnath shrine, a 14 km. Trek
from gaurikund, is one of the 12 jyotirlingas of lord shiva.
3. Hemkund Sahib
Associated with guru govind singh , the tenth guru of the sikhsA it is
situated at an altitude of 4,320 mts. Aabove sea level on the bank of
lake Hemkund.
4. Joshimath
Situated on the slopes above the confluence of alknanda and
dhauliganga rivers is the winter home of the lord of badrinath ,
jushimath has many important temples incloding the temple of ugra
narsimha devoted to the half-lion half-man incarnation of lord vishnu.

5. Badrinath Temple
On the right bank of Alaknanda lies the sacred spot perched at an
altitude of 3,133 meters above the sea level. Encircled by a beautiful
valley, the 15 mts. high temple is dedicated to Lord Vishnu. It is
built in the form of a cone with a small cup of a ilt bull and spire.
Built by adi guru Shankaracharya the philosopher-saint of the 8th
century, the temple has been renovated several times due to damage by
avalanches. Its colourful 'singh dwara' or the main entrance gate give
it a new, modern look
